Your consultation
Every skin booster journey at Oracle starts with a face-to-face consultation and skin assessment with one of our qualified practitioners.
This is where the treatment gets chosen, and it matters more than people expect, because the boosters do different things. Profhilo carries one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available and spreads through the skin to lift hydration and firmness across the face, neck and decolletage. Redensity 1 and Teosyal RHA 1 combine hyaluronic acid with amino acids, vitamins and antioxidants, and work well on smaller areas as well as larger ones.
If your main concern turns out to be repair rather than hydration, particularly under the eyes, you may be better suited to polynucleotides. These are not a skin booster. They are a regenerative treatment that works by stimulating cellular repair rather than by hydrating with hyaluronic acid, and they sit alongside boosters as part of a wider skin health plan rather than being a version of one. Part of the value of a proper consultation is being told that.
On the day
The appointment itself takes around thirty minutes. Profhilo is £300 per session, with a £100 deposit to secure your booking, and we confirm the price of your full plan at consultation once we know how many sessions you need.
Numbing cream can be applied first if you would like it, and some boosters contain a local anaesthetic of their own. The product is delivered through a series of small injections across the treatment area. Most people describe it as a quick scratch and a little pressure rather than anything painful.
You will leave with small raised bumps at each of the injection sites. This is normal and expected with several of the boosters, and they settle within a day or two. Downtime is minimal, and you can carry on with your day.
The first 48 hours
Post-treatment care is simple. Keep the area clean and skip make up for the rest of the day. Avoid the gym, sauna and hot yoga for 24 to 48 hours, and leave alcohol and strong sun alone for at least a day.
Any bumps, mild redness or slight tenderness settle in this window. This is also the period when nothing else appears to be happening, which is entirely correct. We give you written aftercare at your appointment so you are not relying on memory.
Weeks one and two
Your skin may feel a little more hydrated. That is about it, and it is not the treatment working yet, it is simply the hyaluronic acid holding water where it has been placed. Skin hydration is the first thing to change and the least interesting part of what a booster does.
The real change is happening out of sight. Your skin cells are responding to the product by increasing their own collagen and elastin production, and that process is slow by nature. Nobody is going to comment on your skin yet.
Weeks three to eight
This is when results appear.
Somewhere between the third and eighth week, most people notice their skin looking brighter, smoother and more even. Skin texture improves, skin tone looks more uniform, and fine lines that were down to dryness rather than movement start to soften. It tends to arrive gradually rather than all at once. Very often the first sign is that make up sits better, or that skin feels less tight in the morning, before anything is visible in the mirror.
That gradual arrival is the collagen stimulation catching up. Hyaluronic acid hydrates immediately; rebuilding elasticity takes considerably longer, which is why the eight week mark matters more than the first fortnight.
It is also common for other people to notice before you do. Because the change is in skin quality rather than shape, it reads as looking well rather than looking treated, which is exactly the point.
Your second and third sessions
Skin boosters are designed as a short course. Most patients have two to three sessions spaced a few weeks apart, and the effect builds with each one.
The second session is usually where the difference becomes obvious. If you judge the treatment on the first appointment alone, you are judging it halfway through.
Six to nine months on
Results typically last in the region of six to nine months, depending on which booster you had and on your own skin.
Rather than dropping off suddenly, they fade gradually. Most patients book maintenance before the change becomes noticeable, which keeps skin at a consistently better baseline than starting from scratch each time.
What skin boosters will not do
Being straight about this saves disappointment.
They will not restore lost volume. If your concern is flat cheeks or a hollow under-eye, that is a filler conversation. They will not soften wrinkles caused by muscle movement, such as frown lines or crow's feet, which is Botox territory. They will not correct significant skin laxity, and they are not a substitute for sun protection or a decent skincare routine.
They are also not the same as collagen stimulators such as Sculptra, which work over a longer period to rebuild structure rather than to hydrate. Skin boosters address collagen deficiency at the level of skin quality; a biostimulator addresses it at the level of volume. Different problems, different products, and a consultation is where you work out which one you have.
What a skin booster treatment does well is skin quality: hydration, firmness, texture and glow. Dull, dry, tired or crepey skin is where boosters earn their keep, and they are equally useful on the neck and decolletage, which most other aesthetic treatments ignore.
