What causes them?
Marionette lines are caused by a combination of things that come together as part of the natural ageing process.

- Muscle activity. A muscle at the corner of the mouth (the depressor anguli oris, or DAO) actively pulls the mouth corners downward. In some people this muscle is overactive, and years of repeated facial expressions add to the downturned look.
- Lifestyle and gravity. Sun exposure, smoking, repetitive movements and simple gravity all speed the process up.

Can you get rid of marionette lines at home?
Good skin care products are worth using, but be realistic about what they can achieve.
